God be with you 'till we meet again

This little girl isn't so little anymore. Well, okay, she's actually quite little in size, but a true spiritual giant. We're so proud of her! She entered the MTC on September 26, 2012. Thank goodness she has loving grandparents, a cutie little (but taller) brother, and the sweetest best friend to be there for her when her Texas fam just couldn't make it. She'll go on to Spokane in 9 weeks or so to serve the Lord and the adorable people of Washington state for the next 18ish months.

So far, we think she's doing just fine. And well, she's the most-stylish-fashionista-oxford wearing- sister-missionary I've ever seen. Stay tuned for letters from the MTC!

And don't forget! You can always send her love/letters/packages at:

or a quick little note at dearelder.com

**She loves mail as much as the next person, and if we were to say I'm that next person...well, dang! That's a genuine obsession with all stamped goodies!

And this is where I'm going

I am serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington Spokane Mission. My mission actually covers a lot of area including Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and bits of Canada and Montana.

As a missionary, I will be a representative of Jesus Christ, teaching his doctrine and exercising his love and service for the sweet people in this little corner of the universe. I will be serving for a period of 18 months from September 2012 until March/April 2014.

My sister will update this blog with my weekly letters and photos as well as keep my facebook updated with any information about me. You can see my current mailing address on the left-hand side. I would love to hear from anyone who wants to write me and I will do my best to get back to you quickly. I would absolutely love any form of letter or note. You can send me a nice hand-written letter or use dearelder.com [just enter my mission--Washington Spokane--and my name] and the letters will get to me the same day!

If you have any questions, leave a comment on this blog or send my sister, Hannah, a facebook message.

This is why I want to serve

My life is full of rich and happy blessings because of the knowledge I have of this gospel. I am so grateful for the Atonement and the sacrifice that Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, performed for all of us. I want to abide in Him always and I will trust in my Heavenly Father in my every decision and have faith that He will guide me with His Holy Spirit to the people ready and waiting to hear this message of Christ.

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd. He knows us all by name and He wants to rescue each one of us. I want to follow His example to help him herd these lost and wondering flocks. We all matter to Him, we are all worth it to Him. I have been lifted up and encircled in the loving arms of Jesus Christ's love and I  hope that as a diligent servant of the Lord, I can help others also feel this love.

I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that the things written in this book are written for our time. The words are powerful and healing. As I have read and immersed myself in this book, I have gained my testimony of it's truth. Heavenly Father used these prophets of old to teach us today and He continues to use a prophet to share His love and messages with us. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet on the earth today and I know He is the Lord's called servant.

My heart is just brimming with love and happiness. It's a happiness I can't keep to myself. I know these things are true. I have felt the peace and warmth and comfort of the Spirit tell me that these things are true. I am so blessed that I have this opportunity to devote my time to the Lord, and to become an instrument in His hands. Heavenly Father is a loving and merciful God. He wants all His children on earth to return to Him in righteousness. I hope I can help bring people unto Him to rejoice in the things of this Gospel.
